Simon Moser started his studies in Computer Science in 1983, which was the first year that the subject was offered as a major at the University of Berne where he did his Ph.D. under Prof. Oscar Nierstrasz. Since 1984, he has also worked part-time in the industry as a developer (mostly C++/SQL) and later as a project manager. A Swiss Research Foundation grant allowed him to continue his research on software complexity and quality metrics at Swinburne University in Melbourne (Australia) with Prof. Brian Henderson-Sellers. Since 1990, he is a full-time IT project consultant, project manager and business analyst working in Swiss industry. In 2010, he founded SolutionBoxX Ltd. together with partners. In continuation of Simon’s research work, specific services of this company are metrics-based IT project cost estimation and controlling. He has been a member of the SI since 1988 and is also a SISR Section member. His interest lies in strengthening the professionalism of the discipline in practice. As a member of the SI board since 2016, he leads the continuing professional development initiative “Expert FSIE” (https://swissinformatics.org/en/projects/fsie/).
