The section E-CONOMY deals with the effects of the rapid digitization of our society on our economy and the current and future participants. Our society has already coped well with machine, electrical and computer revolutions. Now there are new technologies available or ready to be implemented that go beyond all geographical, national or even regulatory limits. Robots begin to undermine their own economic claim to “appreciation through work” by using robots. How does the service stronghold of Switzerland cope with the coming revolution?
Visions / Goals
The Section provides members with a platform to learn about trends, challenges and solutions in the digital society. A special focus is on blockchain and its applications such as crypto currencies and smart contracts. The E-CONOMY section is to make the Swiss computer science society known to a broader public through events such as the Swiss Digital Finance Conference. An important function is the combination of the classical financial industry, the FinTechs and the academic institutes.
SIG Group Meetings: As a specialist group, meetings are held 3-4 times a year in a manageable setting in the Zurich / Lucerne area. Based on short lectures by computer scientists, futurologists, psychologists, philosophers or spinners, which should encourage discussion and exchange. The economy of our country is a complex system, and the technical possibilities entail risks as well as opportunities. All the more it is necessary to prepare for what is unstoppable and digital to our society. We want to enable our members to get an honest and diverse picture. Likewise, opinions and ideas of our members should be heard at E-CONOMY.
Swiss Digital Finance Conference: This is an event of long-standing cooperation with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences. Every year, the unique event takes place at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences. The E-CONOMY special interest group represents SI as its co-organizer and offers all SI members the opportunity to participate at half price. We are pleased that this conference has been established over the years as top highlight amongst events focusing on the digitization of the financial center. Further information about the upcoming conference and those past can be found on the website of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences under www.hslu.ch/sdfc.
