Making data public, freely available and usable for more transparency, innovation and efficiency – that’s Open Data. Opendata.ch is the Swiss section of the Open Knowledge Foundation. We develop positions and projects and contribute them to the media. In the Anglo-Saxon area in particular, it is becoming increasingly clear that transparency through open government data strengthens public confidence in the state and promotes innovation and competition in the private sector.
In Switzerland too, the corresponding findings are maturing. In this country, the association Opendata.ch has adopted the topic, the board and members perform national and local pioneering work. Opendata.ch is well linked internationally and functions as the Swiss Chapter of the Open Knowledge Foundation. In order to keep up to date with the activities of Opendata.ch, subscribing to the mailing list is highly recommended.
