Digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and many more are at the forefront of the zeitgeist. While some view them as an innovative solution for systematic problems, other see them only as a scheme for a few to get rich. SI wants to pull apart the obfuscation surrounding the topic of these digital currencies and allow our members to dive into the topic and learn for themselves what it is all about. To this end, SI organises events and courses with educators and enthusiasts and invites you to participate to make up your own opinion.
Keeping up with new technologies can be a challenge. Bitcoin, blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are a hard topic to get a grasp on. This is why SI is working with Bitcoin educator and former Chief Product Officer of Bitcoin Suisse AG Michael Gauckler to create a comprehensive introduction to the topic: «Introduction to Bitcoin, Crypto & Decentralized Finance».
This course will cover everything you will need to know to get a solid understanding of Bitcoin and decentralized finance. Alongside the necessary theoretical knowledge, you will receive helpful advice and practical exercises to solve making it a perfect starting point for your Bitcoin journey for both people who just want to learn more and people who want to get involved.
This is a 6-session course held online, led by Michael Gauckler, every Thursday starting on May 23rd, 2024. Each course covers a different topic, building on knowledge gained in the previous session. The sessions are as follows:

As part of our SI Evening Talks series, we invited Michael Gauckler to share his knowledge on Bitcoin and the development of cryptocurrency with us in an online event titled „Bitcoin – The Perfect Currency?“ Michael was the Chief Product Officer at Bitcoin Suisse and is now a Bitcoin educator.
Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency developed based on the Bitcoin white paper by Satoshi Nakamoto. It offers an opportunity to remove control of money from state control and place it into everyone’s hand and to allow a transparent and open access to our economic system. To do so, it uses a peer-to-peer network and blockchain technology to enable secure and transparent transactions between users.
